Aleksandr and Glass sit on the front patio and drink espresso. The two keep their conversation quiet, occasionally leaning in. Aleksandr never stops his eyes from scanning the crowd, a half-smile creeps across his face.

Melissa moves through the crowd towards Aleksandr and Glass giving them a small smile. " May I take a seat? " she said while pointing to an open chair.

Aleksandr's smile broadens a bit as he gestures toward the open seat. "Please. I was just instructing Glass on some of the finer points of surviving as Kindred. Living as kindred will be his next few lessons. Are you here for a drink, or just coffee?"

Melissa stares and Aleksandr's cup of coffee longingly. " Just a drink, but I don't see anything to my taste." She gives the crowd a cursory glance. " Sunnydale as been pretty quiet for these last few weeks. No kidnapping, death, or disappearing DJs." Melissa looks over at Glass. " I am becoming a little worried." She says with an expression of mock horror. " How about you Aleksandr , anything interesting?"

"No new abduction attempts. Though the last one was so pathetic and half-assed that I assume whoever is behind it is too embarrassed to try again." He sips his espresso. "And whoever has been bad-mouthing me lately is too cowardly to do it while I'm around. It seems I have cultivated some sad and inept little enemies." Aleksandr chuckles quietly before sipping his espresso again. "Lately I am simply trying to both help Rose and stay out of her way while she prepares for her jazz club opening. How about you? What arcane mysteries have the wizards unearthed lately?"

" Only answers that give me more questions" Melissa says with a frown and quickly changes the subject. " When is the opening of the jazz club, you throw the most interesting parties."

"The opening is Friday. I suppose I'll take interesting as a compliment. Yes, we pride ourselves on throwing the best events. And with the A List being so supportive, how could it not be "interesting?"

Melissa smoothly pulls out her phone and looks at it's shining screen. Her face is impassive as she reads her new text. " It was awful about your artwork, being defaced like that." Melissa says while putting the phone away. " I know what it is like to work on something for so long and have it ruined in the end. Were you able to restore your artwork?"

Tessa walked in looking sharp as ever. She glanced around and spotted Melissa. Moving slowly over to the table, Tessa smiles and adjusts her glasses. "Good evening." She says softly. "May I join you?"

Aleksandr gestures to the open seat, "Please, join us." Turning to Melissa, "I haven't decided what to do yet. I will most-likely remove the injury and destroy it. But I haven't settled on what to replace it with. I cannot simply put in an identical piece, as it could never truly be recreated. Such is the nature of true art. Once it is altered, it must become something new. I have not decided what that is yet."

Tessa pulled the chair out and sat down setting her briefcase on the floor next to her. "I didn't get the chance to see your work before it was damaged. " She pulls her phone out for a second and the drops it back into her pocket with a shake of her head.

Melissa watches Tessa sit down as she listens to Aleksandr. Melissa than gives Tessa a courteous nod when she was done with her phone. " I was quite distracted by the crowds as well but I didn't hear why they where there. Other then being a distraction for your attempted kidnaping."

"Someone told PETA that I use animal parts in my work. A complete fabrication." Aleksandr sips his espresso, "At one point there was gunfire and while most were distracted, the would-be abductors made their attempt." He turns toward Tessa, "I never pictured you as an art lover." He smiles, "I will make sure you have the chance to see it, once I have reworked it."

Tessa smiled. "I was an art minor in my undergrad days at Stanford. I would love to see it, I haven't had much free time to enjoy art in the last few years." She adjusted her glasses. "I was other wise occupied at the party, sadly."

"Well, I hope your occupations won't interfere with your enjoying Rose's opening this week. You may be surprised how much fun not working can be."
